fusion cuisine, acrylic painting
This piece was created to celebrate my 26th birthday, continuing a tradition I started at 25 of dedicating an annual artwork to myself as a symbol of rebirth and transformation. It represents a fusion of Eastern Asian culinary tradition and Western aesthetic sensibilities. By reimagining soy-sauce pork—a cherished and iconic dish—into the form of a birthday cake, I sought to bridge cultural heritage with contemporary artistic expression.
To me, life is a continuous act of creation, and each significant moment deserves to be honored as a work of art. This piece embodies not only a celebration of my journey but also a deeper reflection on how tradition and innovation can coexist to tell a story. Through this process, I aim to elevate everyday experiences into something timeless, capturing the beauty and significance of personal growth through art.
